Meet Ola, third year Law student... Why did you choose the University of Edinburgh?I chose the University of Edinburgh because of its strong history of community and academic excellence. Why did you choose your course and what do you like about it the most?I chose my course because I believe it equips me with the skills and understanding to give effect to the change I want to see in the world. What I like most about my course is its focus on people and on using the knowledge I gain to help others in society. What’s your fondest memory of life in Edinburgh so far?The different side quests I experience with friends, even if it’s just doing late-night study sessions in the library. Why did you choose to become an Alumni Engagement and Fundraising Ambassador? As a student who benefits from many of the different opportunities made possible through university funding secured through charitable donations, it was an amazing opportunity to give back to the community and speak to the individuals who have made my experience at the University possible. What do you like most about being part of the team? What I love most about being part of the team is the diversity of the team and how everyone in the team has been impacted by the work that we do, whether personally or through the friends they have made along the way. We are united by our common goal. What are you looking forward to in this year’s telethon campaign?I am looking forward to speaking to more alumni and hearing more of their incredible stories. It always makes me wonder about what kind of journey my friends and I will be on after our university experience. What has been your experience talking to alumni of the university? It has been an amazing experience, a blessing in fact. Outside of this role, I would never get to hear about the incredible stories of our alumni and, further, take lessons from their life experiences. Is there any advice/quote/story from alumni that you found meaningful to you in any way? “I always look forward to your calls.” I believe this is special because it shows how our role plays an important part in keeping alumni connected with the real impact of their donations and commitment to the University, while also standing as evidence of their real-world impact. What question do you wish you could ask alumni but are too scared to ask? What was your craziest experience with friends during your time at the University?
